Artist Bio
I grew up in an artistic environment, where drawing and painting became my greatest passion from an early age. I was also inspired by watching my uncles paint. At the age of 15, I began my formal art education, and after four years of study, I was accepted into the National Academy of Fine Arts San Alejandro in Havana, Cuba. There, I trained in drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture, specializing in painting and drawing.
After graduating, I began my professional career, which now spans more than 22 years. My work is inspired by everyday life, finding beauty in ordinary objects and daily scenes that I transform into artworks on a variety of surfaces, from paper and cardboard to canvas. I work across a wide range of materials, including charcoal, soft and oil pastels, oil paint, acrylics, and watercolor, with acrylic and watercolor being my favorite mediums. Watercolor, in particular, is a medium to which I am deeply committed, as I continue to refine my technique and expand my artistic language.
Throughout my career, I have participated in more than 20 solo and group exhibitions in Cuba, my country of birth, as well as in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. My work is also included in private collections in several cities across Europe and the Americas. Art is present in every moment of my day; I constantly make studies and sketches, whether during breaks at work or while traveling. From the very beginning, art has been at the center of my life.
