This workshop is an opportunity to create LARGE and RAW. Bring your surfaces, acrylic paint, other media and your best ideas; you will have 4 full days to work and create alongside a group of your creative peers.

Back by popular demand. These 4-day workshops proved extremely popular last summer, so let’s do it again. This year, in addition to working LARGE, you are encouraged to try something RAW. Raw is open to interpretation: consider working on a surface that feels raw – raw canvas tacked to the wall, a piece of raw plywood, delicate raw linen, raw burlap coffee bag….. get the idea? Or maybe your subject matter feels raw and expressive. Can you make your colours feel raw?

For these multi-day workshops, participants will be able to leave materials and tools at the gallery for the duration of the workshop, no need to pack up each day.

These workshops are designed with “freedom” at the core. You are invited to experiment – work as large (or small) as you like, as raw (or tame) as you like, work indoors or out. It is like going to summer camp, without leaving home.

Grethe Jensen is a contemporary artist/instructor whose work is abstracted, rich in colour, and approached in the spirit of exploration and experimentation. Her own arts education has been self-directed, non-structured and intense, including numerous workshops and classes with many different instructors. She is dedicated to a full-time studio practice, and she is living proof that there is nothing like “Just Doing It!” to enhance learning and growing.
